Quinteto Porteño is a musical ensemble led by bandoneonist Marcelo Mercadante, known for pushing the boundaries of traditional tango. Together with the group, Mercadante explores an open, evolved form of tango that builds bridges toward folk music, jazz, flamenco, and other genres.

Formed in 1999 in Barcelona, the Quinteto Porteño has been the core ensemble on four of Mercadante’s studio albums:

Over the years, the Quinteto has performed extensively across Spain, with notable appearances at:
Teatro Manuel de Falla in Cádiz
Teatro Español in Madrid
Auditori Nacional de Catalunya in Barcelona
Opéra de Lyon in France
They have also toured in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Malta, Italy, and parts of Asia.
In Argentina
The ensemble participated in two editions of the Buenos Aires Tango Festival and performed at the Buenos Aires Nácar Festival at the Teatro Nacional José de San Martín.
