Mode Modal Scale Musical Scale Major Scale


The Mixolydian mode uses the interval pattern:

    • W–W–H–W–W–H–W**

It is nearly identical to the Major Scale but with a lowered 7th degree.

Example

  • G Mixolydian: G – A – B – C – D – E – F – G

Characteristics

  • Common in rock, blues, and funk
  • Bright sound with a relaxed dominant feel
