One of the most notable Orquesta Típica groups of the tango era, renowned for its iconic collaborations with Ángel Vargas and innovative performances across Buenos Aires' theaters and radio.

"early" can not be assigned to a declared number type with value 1930.

Founded by pianist Ángel D'Agostino, this Orquesta Típica emerged in the early 1930s after years of D'Agostino’s experience in silent film accompaniment and collaborations with major tango figures. Gaining national prominence in the 1940s, the orchestra is best remembered for its partnership with singer Ángel Vargas, producing 94 recordings that became cornerstones of tango’s Golden Age. Their performances in venues such as the cabaret Casanova, Teatro Paris, and on major radio programs defined an elegant, melodic tango style that favored lyrical phrasing over rhythmic aggression.

The group featured numerous influential musicians over the decades, including arrangers like Alfredo Attadía and Eduardo Del Piano, violinists such as Hugo Baralis and Mario Perini, and a long list of notable bandoneonists and vocalists. Following Vargas’s departure in 1946, the orchestra continued evolving, introducing new voices such as Tino García, Ricardo Ruiz, and Raúl Lavié, and sustaining a consistent presence in clubs, ballrooms, and on radio throughout the 1950s and early 1960s. Its refined arrangements, emotional phrasing, and smooth orchestrations cemented its place among the elite tango ensembles of its time.
